Area Editor

Area Editor for SMAUG and ROM areas

Version 1.34

Source code for the Area Editor

The above file is the source code (C++) for the Area Editor. The only difference between versions 1.34 and 1.35 is that 1.35 has the Spell Checker disabled, because the license agreement for the Spell Checker does not let me distribute the source files needed to make it work. You can purchase your own copy of the Spell Checker from Wintertree Software, and define SPELL_CHECKER to make it work (plus copy a few dialogs into the resource file).

Disclaimer

The Area Editor successfully compiles under Microsoft Visual C++ compiler version 6.0. I cannot guarantee that it will compile without changes under more recent versions of the Microsoft compilers. The source uses MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) libraries, so it is unlikely you can compile it with alternative compilers, such as Borland or gcc.

The source for the Area Editor is being released to help administrators of SMAUG/ROM derivative MUDs who may need to make modifications to get it to work with non-standard codebases. I do not wish to enter into lengthy discussions about how to get it to work with newer versions of the Microsoft (or other) compilers. The source code is released "as is", and with no warranty of any kind (see license conditions below).
