I'm just switching over from Nexus to MUSH for Achaea. I used MUSH for Aardwolf already, and I liked the feel of it. I'm still getting the hang of the differences in the triggers systems, but I think with a bit more practice I'll be able to figure it out. I have one rather pressing question, though. Is there any way get the maps used by both Nexus and the IRE flash client (the graphical map opened with a button on the client windows, not the MAP command maps) to show up in MUSH? As nice as some of the other map plugins look, none of them compare to the amount of information and the clarity of the IRE maps. Are there any plugins that properly show irregular distances between rooms? Ones that use the same map shown with the MAP command would be an okay substitute, but I would really like to see the IRE maps in a separate mini window.

Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, there is one I know of, written by Nitro. I'll see if I can dig it up for you, but you might want to message her in-game to see if she has a more recent version.

Thank you! I've messaged Nitro, but she is not in Achaea at the moment.

There isn't a plugin that I know of that reads the maps from the server like the IRE clients. You can download their maps.xml file easily enough, convert it using a plugin Nick wrote, and use the MUSH mapper to display it. This is what I'm using now and I love it.

You can see progress on the mapper in the thread a few below this.

I host my version of the mapper as well. I'm going to start trying to write in wormhole support in the autowalker but the problem with this is it'll need to deduce whether the person is phased or not.

There is, because I just said there was, and I have it (somewhere) on my hard drive. :P

I wrote that post an hour or so before I hit the post button. I'd still suggest running with the MUSHclient mapper plugin. So much more you can do with it. Granted the room drawing won't look as pretty most of the time but the other functionality you gain is well worth the loss in visual beauty.

That would be a good substitute if this one by Nitro can't be found. I doubt I would use any of the extra functionality, though. I like to navigate to places on my own, and remember the destinations without the aid of bookmarks. It's just more fun that way! ^^

Hee, thanks. I just wish I could form a mental map without the aid of a picture.

I have successfully set up a good couple of plugins thanks to

http://forums.achaea.com/lofiversion/index.php/t39350.html

and the directions provided by Soludra on that site. quick edit: I found that site by searching google for "achaea map.xml" to try and do what you suggested, Dontarion. I didn't know where else to look!

I have my compass, I have my gauges, and I have a map that shows the proper distances between rooms. I would still love to get my hands on Nitro's plugin, because I really do like those map images, but now at least I can stop using Nexus and not get lost! ON TO BETTER TRIGGER SCRIPTING!

Speaking of, are triggers/aliases/etc saved independently for each character I have on Achaea, or does MUSH save them by world instead (i.e. all three of my characters will share one set of scripts)? I noticed that my Aardwolf scripts weren't on the list, which I was very pleased with.

MUSHclient saves triggers/aliases/everything in world files. If you play Caelan and establish everything and save it in a world called Caelan then only would those triggers come up when worldfile Caelan is opened.

I am not Caelan, I am Caelen, with a second "e" instead of a second "a". Both names share the same Celtic origins, though! Caelan is just 300-ish Achaean years older than I am, in the realms, which comes out to roughly... assuming the estimate of 12.5 days per year is accurate... more than 10 real years. I only just got into muds a couple weeks ago.

edit: I've also been up all night, playing with my scripts.

Oh, god. I wrote that ages ago! My plugins have been updated a lot since then, and LoadPPI has been replaced in favor of my new PPI script (related, but easier). You should definitely go here [1] and get the new versions.

I tried using these ones first, but I can never get the map to work. It always hangs up when I connect to Achaea, then fills with gibberish and becomes mostly unresponsive (except to MAP MOVE X Y). I can move the gibberish around though, if that counts for anything... The gauge and compass work for both the old and new though.

I love the edit button!

Before I forget, may as well through my comp info out there. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit OS, more than enough everything else to handle MUSH and then some, and that evil evil invention known as UAC is completely dismantled and disabled.

Odd! It works fine for me (though I suppose that goes without saying). I actually just got a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium, so I'll check it out and see what's going wrong here.

You might want to make sure you have "Convert IAC EOR/GA to newline" checked in Game -> Configure -> Output, on the right. If it's not checked, it can (and will) throw prompt triggers off.

Also, try using MAP PARSE manually to force it to redraw the map.
