Hello,
I just started setting up a private mush with pennmush 1.7.5p4 binary for W32.

I saw that pennmush is compatible with international
character sets since 1.7.4, but yet, when I put a
sentence in French using accents in my database, although
the database looks fine with a text editor, the output
is awfully wrong in both simpleMU and the latest
MUSHclient I downloaded today.

Are there any settings to get it right ?

Thanks, HH.

Can you post or email an example? Possibly you need a different font. I don't think MUSHclient stops characters with the 8-bit set.

I just did a quick test, and it should work.

Hello Nick,
I got the help from Javelin and Noltar on M*U*S*H.

The problem had to do with non clean 8-bit attribute
compression in the compiled version of pennmush I had
(PennMUSH 175p4)

In order for people to possibly find this thread via
search, I summarize :

European people using european keyboards should be able
to use pennmush 175p5 version 31 March or later,
for their accented characters. French is no problem
anymore. That version of Pennmush is type-4 compression
compatible. Using a Courier New font with MUSHClient
does a nice job.
