So I recently had to erase my drive and reinstall Ubuntu, so I had to reinstall TBAmud since I didn't make a backup. Anyway, I recompiled and reconfigured everything. I haven't made any changes or anything and I can still connect on the actual PC running the MUD. My friend (using a Mac) is unable to connect, using my local IP and connect to my home network, on which the MUD is running. The port is also correct. It seems like there's no real reason for his inability to connect. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

See this: http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?id=8369

Particularly the part about port forwarding.

Shouldn't that not be a problem since it's all on a LAN though? I'm just a bit confused about why port forwarding would be necessary if we're both connected to the same wireless network.

When you said "my friend" I assumed he lived in another house, and that you had given out your private (internal) IP address. If you had done that, you would have to port-forward.

Is your friend in the same house with you, using the same router? Try getting your friend to "ping" your IP address, see if there is a route to it.

Well, it started working again. I guess there was just an issue with the network.
