| MUSHclient 3.05 often crashes when I try to log into Aurealan Realms (aurealanrealms.org:4000).
When I do manage to connect successfuly, I find that it's either using no compression or MCCP v1, though Aurealan Realms supports MCCP v1 and v2. Perhaps the crash is related to the recent MCCP changes. | | Top |

| The crash itself is due to a bug in MUSHclient, where it crashes trying to display an error message "unknown compression method". This will be fixed in the next version.
The *reason* it is displaying that error message is that this particular MUD is incorrectly sending out the "start compression" method twice, which is confusing MUSHclient, and thus causing the "unknown compression method" message.
I will change the way MUSHclient works slightly to work around this server problem, and have written to the server implementors to notify them of the problem.
Look out for MUSHclient 3.06, which should be available within about 24 hours of this message. |

| | I haven't had a response from the admins from this MUD, however MUSHclient has been changed to do its MCCP negotiation slightly differently, and you can now connect using MCCP. |
