Ask not for whom the bells tolls! It tolls for thee.
Sorry I coundlt resist that one.

One of the rooms in this area I have is a Belfry. The room description contains a bell. I was wondering if it would be possible to make the bell chime if the players did something like PULL ROPE and have a message sent to everyone in the area like "The Tower Bells Chime"

i don't know if this will help, but herne's building guides at http://webhome.idirect.com/~helspawn/smaug.html have a great page on writing programs- there's probably a simple check to see if someone pulls on the rope, and i know there's a command that sends a message to a whole area. If i get bored later, maybe i'll see if i can write it (i'm still a newb) and i'll post it here tomorrow if i do.

what you could do is make object called rope make it type lever and depending on the version of smaug you should be able to set v0 to 536870913 for always pull or 536870912 for always push, then add an act prog in the room like pulls a rope. (make it based on the short desc of the item i.e if the item short desc is rope then pulls a rope is correct)
that should trigger it, oh yea with act triggers you will need to besure to match the color codes if your using them.
