| Ok, I got this problem, see, the Admin player that you start with at the beginning is bugged (running SMAUG FUSS 1.6). I manually changed the pass, nothing. Seemed that making a new char (who saves at level 2, how about that) and setting their level bia editor and pfile, worked. It just that one char or what? | Top |

| Like I said in the other (sorry, read them out of order), if you read the file that came with the distribution it would tell you that the password is admin or something like that. If you just opened the file up and tried the password that was in it, it would be wrong because it is encrypted. |

| what i did was i opened the admin file and copied the strange characters. Then i connected to my mud then typed
admin
[strange characters]
then it got me in. About changing the password, i would like to know how as well. I tried changing the password but it just wouldn't work, its strange that i successfully gave my imm 200 pracs and 500 hr/dr to test it out but it wouldn't let me change the password. | Top |

| The passwords are shown in "strange characters" because they're encrypted. You're not supposed to be able to edit/view them manually by accessing the pfiles, that's part of the whole point of encrypting them that way.
In any event, your query about how to change passwords...
Once you're logged in, presumably as an IMM, you can just do "mset <target> password <argument>" which should set their password to whatever you choose.
Hope that helps! |
