| Just wondering, it'd make my life a lot simpler if it does. I'm thinking about upgrading to 1.6Fuss.
Thanks and Godbless!

| I'm pretty sure I saw this brought up recently. Do a search, I think there was a fix made. |

| I know there wasn't a new Area Editor update, but I thought I saw a way around to where it supports FUSS. |

| It does work just fine with SmaugFUSS 1.6 areas, as long as you don't fold or save those areas online, once an area has been converted to the SmaugFUSS 1.6 reset formats Area Editor will not open that area file ever again. Though we're all hoping that Nick will decide to make an upgrade or a patch or some such that will re-enable Area Editor to work with SmaugFUSS 1.6 and future versions as well since we don't want to lose the benefits of our new reset system, but we also don't want to lose the benefits of Area Editor that we've all come to enjoy so much. |

| I just had a thought. Cann't you make another program to convert Smaug 1.4a areas files to FUSS 1.6? Something along those lines would let people use area files for either 1.x Smaug and FUSS 1.4/6, then sending a copy of that same program's source to Nick so he could put it in kind of like a plug-in to Area Editor, maybe add it into the Area Edtior itself. Don't know what kind of work it owuld take overall, but I'm pretty sure its doable. Same for Smaugwiz areas and the like. Be an easy way to kill a bird or two with one stone, so to speak. | Top |

| SmaugFUSS 1.6 already supports area files from SmaugFUSS 1.4, Smaug 1.4a, Smaug 1.02, and SmaugWiz (and maybe others too?). But if you ever edit anything about the file online, the first time you foldarea that area will be converted to SmaugFUSS 1.6's room resets instead of the previous area resets. We've provided Nick with the info that's been changed for SmaugFUSS 1.6, we just haven't heard back yet whether or not he plans on making Area Editor able to edit the new file format. Take a look at the other thread on this topic: http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=5323 to see what we'd provided earlier. As for making a program to convert older format Smaug files to SmaugFUSS 1.6's new format I don't do any of my coding in windows and wouldn't know where to begin on it, but if Nick needs to see what's been changed in SmaugFUSS 1.6 to get to the new reset system, Samson's snippet for it is readily available at http://www.smaugfuss.org/downloads.php?file=resetfix.zip for whoever'd like to undertake the project you've suggested or just to modify their own Smaug codebase to support this system instead or even to fix Area Editor. :)

| SmaugFUSS 1.6 does not natively support SmaugWiz areas. That requires the addition of a snippet that's been provided for this. | Top |

| Sorry, I was thinking about my mud, but you're absolutely correct, Samson, I should have said that SmaugFUSS supports SmaugWiz with the aid of Samson's snippet available at http://www.smaugfuss.org/scripts/download.php?file=SmaugWizloader.txt, especially since I was throwing out all those other links anyway. ;)

| Nice to know it supports 1.4a. I may get some areas done offline then transfer them to Linux to add into the area list (I plan on some rather large areas anyways). I'll keep that all in mind, and as for Windows, maybe Nick, if he would be so kind, make a port of the editor for Linux, open source (just to remain in the spirit of Linux :)), or maybe let someone else do it. | Top |
