I'm a newbie...as green as they come...so please be gentle.

I'm having trouble with a spellup script on AARD. The spellup script was not written by me. When I try to save my world I get an error code saying:

Mush script error:
Unable to create the plugin save file state c://program
files/mushclient/worlds/plugins/spellupscript/state/3aa8d4ccd402c5e031a276b-4d41
b78adc358ae824fb70f6-state.xml

The spellup script is still there in file-plugins but each time I login to AARD I have to start from scratch and add all my spells over again. I tried to remove the script and then reinstall and got this message:

Line 18: Too many decimal places for numeric attribute named 'version' (problem in this file)

I apologize if this issue has already been addressed. I did a search on state files and didn't see anything that looked similiar in the subject line.

I'm completely lost. As I said I don't know how to write scripts and this one isn't mine. Please let me know if I have left out any information that might help.

Thank you in advance. :)

Basically it can't save the state file because that directory does not exist.

The directory in your message is:

c://program files/mushclient/worlds/plugins/spellupscript/state/

For a start, that is a bit weird because of the two slashes after C:.

There has been some discussion on this issue here:

http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?id=6664

I would try going into File -> Global Preferences, and make sure that the Plugins directory (there is a button to change it) is indeed pointing at your plugins directory.

For example, my plugins directory is:

C:\Program Files\MUSHclient\worlds\plugins\

Open the plugin in a text editor (the one in MUSHclient will do), and go to line 18. Sounds like it has become corrupted somehow.

Fiendish also has a good script on the site in his finger info. The DNS lookup can be a bit spotty for some people at time, for whatever reason. It took me two tries to get it, but the file is there.

There are also a few Aard specific plugins by Onoitsu2 mirrored at http://www.gammon.com.au/files/mushclient/Aardwolf/ A few like the autohunt are outdated a bit, and I'm not sure where to get the new versions. I pretty much just use his coloured consider plugin.

I'm also working on putting a few of my own scripts and a few others on Emerald's website, but I haven't had enough time to finish up everything that needs to be done since Deathr changed the clan servers.

The ones that are mirrored are VERY old, the latest ones can be downloaded in either a ZIP version, or a Binary Installer version, which I created cause so very many people actually don't know how to locate installation points, yet play and script on muds.

Those URLs are...

www.torasin.com/~venificius/Aardwolf_MC_Plugins.exe

and

www.torasin.com/~venificius/AardwolfMC_Plugins.zip

The Autohunter is functional, as well as MANY other plugins I have created. Including a Spellup one that displays a textbox window, and allows entry of spell names 1 per line, in ANY case, cause it will auto convert to lower, as well as no quotes are needed either. Using said method allows re-ordering, or removal of spells quite a lot easier than 'spelladd SPELLNAME' for EACH and EVERY spell you add.

As with ALL my plugins, upon install into your world file it will present a "Help File" with a description, and command list, and if that plugin is not to your particular use, or needs, then just remove it the same method you added it in.

Hope you enjoy :)

I want to thank everyone who tried to help me. I really appreciate all your suggestions.

Nick,

The plugin directory does indeed point to:
C:\Program Files\MUSHclient\worlds\plugins\

When I tried to open the plugin in notepad all I saw were a bunch of symbols that I couldn't understand. I couldn't find a line 18. :( I'm sorry. :( Here is the link to the spellup script:

http://silenceisdefeat.org/-fiendishx1/MUSHClientSpellupScript/Fiendishs_
Spellup_Script_v31.xml

I haven't been able to get to the site today. Don't know if the server is down or what. If you have time Nick could you please help me?

I have loaded Oni's spellup script and it is working fine so far. Thanks Oni!! *smiles*

The mystery is why fiendish's spellup script became unstable on my system. I know it is a stable spellup script that many use without a problem as did I for a short time. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling mush and then saved fiendish's spellup script and tried to add it using file-plugins-add....did not work.

Confused in AARD,

Pepto

I can't access that URL either. It is hard to help without seeing the plugin. I suggest you get another copy from that site or a friend, and try again.

Thanks Nick, I update the zip and installer about once a month, sometimes more, if I am told by users of my plugins what they would like to see done with them.

If you will allow me, I can e-mail you each time I have a MAJOR update, like an addition of a NEW plugin, or a complete overhaul of an old one. Because MINOR changes don't need to be mirrored :)

Things have changed on Aard and spellup script no longer works as it should. It doesn't recognize which spells are already cast and gives me full respell everytime. The reason would be differen 'saff' command 'view'. Please help... couse i'm useless when it comes to stuff like this.

The change was simple. "Spell :" became "Spell :" Just replace " : " with " : " as it says on Madcatz's note after yours on the tech board.

Ok I have updated my Spellup plugin to work with the latest change, and have re-uploaded it to the same URL as previously posted in this discussion.

The fix that he tried to convey is...

Original: "Spell:"
New: "Spell___:" (Where the _ = a space, so 3 total)

That will fix most ANY script that uses saff

hrm... seems to be limitation with the boards for some reason. I tried editing my post, and it's still saved in there as 3 spaces. When I tried highlighting the spaces reading it normally, it just shows one space. I guess I should have used code tags.

I know that this reply is months old at this point, but there's a good reason for that. This is the first time seeing the question, and I'm only seeing it because of an unrelated search through google.

So just as some general advice in case someone ever comes back to this thread:
If you have a problem with downloading a script, you should probably contact the author instead of someone else.
