I found, edit post, select all on my original post, copy, click on another quote, space down from that quote, paste original post above that. Do save on new post.
It seemed to work for me to get more than one quote in a post (trial and error).

What I tend to do is ctrl-click the quote link to open it as a tab, then copy the contents over to the original tab.

No Problem :)

(Lol, I think I ended up with a duplicate post when I edited, testing more than one quotes.)

I edited, select and copied all in my post, clicked on the other quote, then pasted above that to get both quotes. I would guess that it would work for multiple quotes too.

I still haven't found the visual c I was using before to compile smaug in. If I find it I'll post it and also post the project file that I used before to get it to compile. My current one/s seem to have been modified by the vc 2008 express and now load up as c++ instead of c.

I know :) I was apologizing for answering it instead of Nick.

My name's not Nick, but the problem is that every quote link does the same thing: it sends you to the posting page with the quoted post in [quote] tags. There's nothing special about the quote links on the posting page, they do the exact same thing.

Lol, I was refering to Nick Gammon.

I just noticed that my visual c is no longer on my computer after I installed visual c++ 2008 express and have no way to recompile the smaug I have been working on. I had studio express 2005 that I was using to compile in c. Apparently it erased everything, including my c library that I had stored under one of it's directories.

I've been searching my external drives for a backup of that version.

{External Hard Drive Note: If you have an external notebook, casing, or such, and it fails, take it out of the case and put it into a docking bay, and you will find that it still works. If it fails there, then it really did die.}

I selected all, copy, clicked on quote, above, then shifted down (enter), and pasted my original, (above the second quote here), and it worked.
:)

I mentioned in the other thread that seems to have kicked off on this subject, the handful of extra things I added to get it to work.

Well, don't feel too bad about it, I couldn't even download it, (ref = http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/?id=10970&page=999 ).
And, no matter what information you get from here about muds you are getting some of the best. There are only a few of these people left that know about them, on this site, and a couple others.
Without these games being presented to anyone in their raw form as they are, I doubt anyone would have any interest in them. Which is a shame. I missed the bbs era, but I sure appreciate being able to access and explore that era which was the precurser to massively online player games that we now enjoy to play (on some) in 3D.

Ok well i downloaded cygwins and well after downloading it all day and using 300 some MB it says its not compatable with windows 7. So i deleted it and i was woundering if anybody knew a good compiler to download ...

You downloaded 300 Mb and then deleted it? Why?

According to the Cygwin web site:

Quote:

What versions of Windows are supported?

Cygwin can be expected to run on all modern 32 bit versions of Windows, except Windows CE and Windows 95/98/Me. This includes, as of the time of writing this, Windows NT4 SP4 or later, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, as well as the WOW64 32 bit environment on released 64 bit versions of Windows (XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/2008 R2).

Slow down a bit. Rather than just deleting something large you have downloaded, maybe ask for help first?

Ok.. so i need to download cygwins but i was woundering.. I dont have alot of download room with the internet im running. i only get 10 gigs to last me 30 days and i pay a good deal for it. i was woundering what i needed to get off of cygwins to be able to do what i need to do..

The size of my Cygwin download folder is only 147 Mb. That's only 14% of 1 Gb. At 10 Gb for 30 days you can afford to download 341 Mb per day, so that isn't too bad. Especially as it is a once-off.

Then it sounds like you should get a MUD host. There's a number of paid and free ones out there.

But you should learn Linux commands first.
