Not at all. I have mostly played Diku/Merc/Rom derivatives. However, DoT is substantially different than most of those. I don't expect mobs just to keel over becuase ya look at them wrong, but mobs for newbies should be exponentially easier than higher level mobs.

I'm not trying to generalize, but from the bulk of your posts it seems like you're used to more of the Godwars style of play where mobs aren't meant to be a challenge, or one of the countless MUDs that are up currently where levelling takes forever but poses no challenge. From what I have seen, I'm no expert, DoT is made to actually take quite a bit more time and be more of an experience than those other shallow MUDs.

The equipment that they're using is a bit low and you might want to just find some equipment that's equivalent to their level and load it up to test it that way. If it's still a bit too slow/low for you then you'll want to change the Thac0 and Thac32 in classedit to better suit what you're looking for.

We are talking about level 5, pretty much staright out of the mud school. They are using weapons purchased in the mudschool. As for the other criteria, i don't know, but I'll find out.

Have they fully practiced their combat skill?
What is their hit and damroll?
Are they bothering to get blessed by the healer?
Are they using weapons at or below their level?

Some of my playertesters have commented that battles between mobs and them at low levels takes inordinate ammounts of time. We are talking about players and evenly matched opponents, and they are getting in 1 in 20 hits, with it taking 5 minutes to kill the simplest mobs. Is there anyway I can balance this so that it takes less time? Should i knock mobs down or players up?
