Since I'm already here, I thought I'd ask this. Our mud has nightdescs available. Is it possible (for us) to make AE accept the format with this added enhancement?

Probably not.
If I amended Area Editor to allow for the variations in every MUD in the world I would be working on it full-time.
Actually, what would be good if MUDs were changed to read in some form of XML in their area files, thus extra fields like this could be added, and an editor like Area Editor could automatically recognise them.
Perhaps in a couple of years time. :)

I was thinking of doing an XML area editor, combined with a converter to convert to/from standard area file formats, so the general area editor could be used with practically any area file, however I haven't done it yet.
