Well, if someone could maybe list up here what the basic difference is in a cygwin makefile and a unix makefile, that would be great. It sucks that I can't compile some codebases but I can other...Well if you can't then that's okay. But if you can, please do. Thanks.

They are usually pretty similar, except the Cygwin might disable something that isn't usually there (eg. encryption). Usually a bit of tweaking based on the error messages you get is all you need.

to download all the cygwin packages. Of course, this
won't fix all of them, and you'll still have to
edit the code a bit..
