| I have read over all the forums on this and many other sites the last few days. I am very new to this end of muds
but have been playing them for years. I finally got never enough to try and I have lots of time to put into it.
I am running win2k version and I think I have become fairly firmilar with the wizhelp commands and other documents I have been able to find thanks to these forums.
First off I dont know anything about c or Cygwin. But I am willing to learn anything if it will get me where I wanna go.
I have some maps I have already made, which I would like to replace with the current once that come with 1.4. But I know that some of the rooms and objects are hard coded and therefore know it wont work.
Is there way way to remove these objs and rooms form the code? How do I go I about doing it? I'd appreciate anyones help on this greatly.

| There really isn't as much 'hard-coded' stuff as you may think. All of the hard-coded stuff in stock SMAUG should be in limbo and the omni-complex, neither of which I would think you'd want to replace anyway. Considering you're using the windows version and have no C coding experience, I'd start off small and work your way up. Instead of replacing the existing areas (which can be a pain), add your areas to the mix. Did you make the new areas yourself? If you did, it would be easy to set the new areas to a vnum range not already in use by the stock areas and then add your area to the area load list and go from there.
see this FAQ for info on that:

| Yes I made the new areas using area editor and added my own areas, mobs and objects. I added them to the areas list and stuff for testing and such. I understand about the vnums also..
Also I downloaded cygwin but I have no idea how to use it. But I am a fast leanrer especially when it comes to coding, I just never messed with and C yet. But I am gonna.. :P
Where is the omni complex i dont seem to have that area.
I dont have any problem just deleting the ones that arent nessecary to run the server but on all my attempts removing them didnt work.
