| I have been running my mud for about 2 weeks now, and I am runnning into a problem. The player files won't save all of a sudden. I get no errors, Its just that they won't save at all.
Any Ideas?
Thanks again!

| What OS are you using? and if you're using Windows are you using Cygwin?
A few things to check:
/player/ dir has ALL the subdirs of the alphabet
/player/a/
/player/b/
...
Check the same for /backup/ or /player/backup/ depending where it may be located.
The fact that you're not getting any errors is kinda puzzling though.
A quick search of the forums shows that this has been discussed in the past and that no solid answer has ever been devised. :-\ | Top |

| I am using XP. I cannot figure out how to compile anything in Cygwin. Are there tutorials? I just dont know how to run anything that has to do with cygwin. =\
Anyways, I have all the player directories and the backups. But, here's the problem. They all used to save but now they have just stopped. Also, there are no files in the backup dirctories for players.
So confused... | Top |

| Check this FAQ out:

What have you changed since they were working? Any system changes? Play with any settings in the MUD? ect. Any version of SMAUG running on native Windows seems to have problems :-\
Don't worry about the lack of things in /backup/, I believe stock SMAUG only utilizes the backup dir when a player dies. | Top |
