| Hey, I want to start a SWR mud but I don't understand it. What exactly should I download and from where? I'm running Win2k Prof. if that matters. Also, I only have the cygwin.dll, not the big program. If theres any thing real specific I need to get, please tell me :)
Primary Question:
Where do I get SWR, and what exactly do I get? | Top |

| You really shouldn't have to change anything to get it to compile. But after you log on the first time you'll need to log off then edit your pfile so you can be an imm. | Top |

| You need the default install in addition to make and gcc. Cygwin's default install is pretty minimal as it is. My install was about 95 megs not including the smaug server. Which raises it to about 140megs give or take. 116megs really doesn't do Cygwin and Smaug justice. It MAY be possible if you knew what you were doing. But on ANY development platform (meaning you plan to compile something) you always want some extra disk space for the compile to use. Object files can eat up disk space pretty quick. Smaug and Cygwin just weren't made with a small drive in mind :-\ | Top |

| If I may suggest - upgrade your hard drive. If you get the cheapest drive possible in a shop nowadays it will probably be 20 Gb which is a great deal more than 116 Mb.
It isn't worth trying to fit it all into a tiny space. Even if you squeezed in a compiler (Cygwin or something else) then you will find the .o (object) files will fill it up anyway.
Give up, and get a bigger disk drive. |
