Anyone know or recommend a good program to create tar or gzip file for windows? While I do have cygwin, I dislike it.
Nobody ever expects the spanish inquisition!

Winzip amazingly enough in more recent versions has started adding tar functionality. There's also winrar and some other shareware/freeware stuff out there that can handle tar files for windows.

I've been using winzip to open the tars, but I tried to make a tar in winzip, didn't work, I'll try updating my version of winzip

The latest version(the beta test they have available, actually) of winzip doesn't support the creation of tars. Guess I keep looking. I appreciate the comment though.

Try winrar from www.rlab.com, should have all the functionality you could ever ask for :)
