| I've heard a lot about clan rosters, but I've never seen a snippet for one. Can someone please either guide me to a snippet, or tell the best and most efficient way to keep a clan roster. (meaning that should you keep the names in a clan.roster file or something like that)
Thanks a bunch. |

| Easiest way is probly to write a function using grep to cycle thru the pfiles and look for the desired clan. |

| A really easy, though not very effeicent way would be to just have a clan field called roster or something, and add/remove people accordingly. A fair amount of places to edit, but that would do it.
Another way is using samson's pfiles code, you could modify it fairly easily to read in clan only to generate the files, but it has some lasg associated with reading alot of files. |

About:
Roster is a PHP/mySQL application that manages a team's roster, chain of command and battles. It manages awards, ranks, units, bio infomation, statistics, and much more for each member of your team. It has a protected administrative interface with an extensible permission system for delegation of tasks, and also supports the management and scheduling of battles and multi-battles via the Battle Center. Roster fully supports the tracking NetBattleTech league battles and can be configured to support a subset of battle properties for other leagues or just ad-hoc matches. Its Battle Center will also track tactical and statistical data for your opponents and maps. The look and feel of almost all aspects can be changed via a CSS file and Smarty templates.

| There is a mud side solution. Sadiq once had a roster snippet on his pages. It would appear though that my archive of his stuff does not contain that by itself, but we used it in AFKMud so you could snag it from clans.c there if you want. | Top |

If you use this function please credit me appropriately.
(comment in your 'help roster' preferred.) It would be nice
if you emailed me (aqua@compuserve.com) to let me know you're using it.
We coders need our egos inflated frequently.
To view the 'roster' function in action, visit

Anyway I'v not acutally looked at it in depth it might be useful to you. | Top |
