| I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere in the boards recently, so I was just wondering if the HTML tags relating to playing sounds would be added to the Pueblo support in MUSHClient. If so, is there any sort of timeframe available? | Top |

| Support for MSP (Mud Sound Protocol) and Pueblo sound would probably be added at the same time. Time frame? Probably some time in the next few months. |

| Actually, as of 3.34 I believe there is a sound plugin as part of the standard distribution package. Granted, there are still a few quirks to be worked out, like not being able to play sounds simultaneously, but its still a good plugin for basic sound support. As for telnet negotiation.... why? There are a number of solid clients designed for telnet already that do it far better than I would expect Nick to include in MC in hopes of not overly bloating the program. If you require freeware, check out SSH Secure Shell, its a fabulously powerful app with a free license for standard usage. |

| You got me wrong. Firstly I'm not looking at mush having MSP support for my purposes as a client. But as a developer. I use zmud (a registered copy mind you), mush, gmud and tintin. In an attempt to keep my mud up to spec for a variety of clients. I ask for mush to have MSP support because it has been my experience that the majority of my users use zmud or mush. The mush users have been asking for PROPER msp support for awhile now. I don't know your experience is with the MSP plugin, but it's a *HACK*.. not proper support IMO. Proper MSP support would be up to spec with the MSP protocol, most importantly include telnet negotiation, volume control and url support. As well as !!MUSIC support (which the plugin does not include).
As for the telnet negotiation I hardly see how that would bloat a program. The mud sends a WILL MSP TELOPT, the client picks that up and returns a DO MSP TELOPT. Explain how that's bloated? And why? Why WOULDN'T you? Why force the user to enable sound support when there's a perfectly good negotiation routine designed to do it properly.
If you search these forums regarding MSP you'll notice that MSP support has been in the works for some time now. Nowhere did I see that the addition of MSP had been nixed. Don't get me wrong, having the plugin is better then nothing, but actual MSP support would be ideal. I was merely asking for an update of the situation, not client reccomendations. Besides, PuTTY is a better SSH client IMHO anyway ;-P | Top |

| Heh, I actually did misunderstand the direction of the inquiry. From the development side, yeah the telnet support shouldnt be too bad to include and full MSP support really would be nice. As far as having MC function as a fullblown telnet client, that would just be crazy given the number of quality apps already around :) As far as the plugin, it *is* a hack but its better than nothin if you need the sound and cant stand to work with zmud (which I can't) but no it doesnt compare to full support by any means. |

| I agree completely, FULL telnet support for mush would make it bloated for it's purposes. As well as I expect MSP negotiation has long been planned and will be implemented when MSP itself is. I'm just prodding Nick for an ETA on MSP in mush ;-) | Top |

| I took the original question to mean "telnet support for MSP" which would only be a few lines of code.
As for MSP, I looked into that a while ago. zMUD uses a DLL that he got from somewhere that I'm not sure is in business any more. If I can find an easy way of doing it, maybe just what the plugin currently does imbedded into the program, that would be better than nothing. |
