| For various reasons i now find myself using Fedora Core 4.0 and compiling with Gcc4.0. I was very suprised to see that there were no major errors that i couldnt fix in 2 seconds.
The only warnings that i have left have to do with the QUICKLINK macro, the warning is
warning: comparisons like X<=Y<=Z do have their mathematical meaning.
Now this warning seems to have no effect on the game, and i do remember reading that Samson removed this macro from AFK1.75, falling short of downloading his code and looking at what he did, I was wondering if anyone else has taking the plunge into Gcc4.0 and what fixes or problems you have encountered.
Peace all. |

| SmaugFUSS has, FUSS has no errors or warnings in 4.0, so check that source out compared to yours. |

| Actually i owe you a bigger thanks Samson, not only did i follow the link, but spent the most of today going through the pages and pages of bugs and adding many of them into my SmaugFUSS 1.4a based mud.
One that i think will be most helpfull is the DISPOSE/STRFREE macro fixes, i had been using non standard macros for those for a long time, i think i got them from mudmagic, anyhow, a lot of the crashes we have had always, in the backtraces listed the DISPOSE macro.
We never had any trouble with these until we moved to a differnet server, never put 2 and 2 together until today. This might just have fixed a few lingering issues i have had.
To anyone else out there with a mud derived from an older FUSS package, or heavens forbid stock 1.4a, i tottaly recommend going through the forums on the smaugfuss site and patching up your code.
Peace and thanks again. |
