| I have begun working on building my own world within Smaug. This is my first time doing any building and all is going well except I am having some difficutlies in creating quality Mobs and Objects.
The mobs I have made so far are pathetic. Either too easy to kill or too tough. Can anyone share any tips or guidelines on creating mobs? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

| The best advice I can give is to find a mob that already exists that provides a level similar to what you're aiming for, and setting your new mob's stats to something similar. As far as I know there are no generally reliable charts that provide information for precise balancing. One problem is that every code base introduces its own set of balancing issues, and you never know what things they might have added -- so it's not always reliable to use other people's guidelines. |

| Ok, Great! Thank you both.
I had looked for other public area files to download but had been unable to find any. I had checked SAE and a couple other links I found in this forum, but none were active or had the area files available.
If its not too much trouble could someone please send (email) me an area, other than the ones included in the default Smaug 1.4a zip file?
Thanks again. | Top |

| There's a new area that Dace has said should be up this weekend, so if you watch for it, it should have tons of areas. In the meantime, try googling for smaug areas and that may find you a few sites. You also might try The Mud Emporium at http://www.thevedic.net/mud/cgi-bin/search?mode=2&type=Area&code_base=Smaug as there are about 15 smaug areas available there that aren't too bad.. but that search should turn you up some others as well. There are plenty out there to be found. |
