My friend can not connect to muds from his new computer. He uses aol dialup and it will not connect to any muds. He preferably likes to play on Achaea with me and a few others. I've tried proxies, other dialin servers, and many things. I think the problem is the mature teen setting on aol or his McAfee firewall but he doesn't know how to work them either. Please any tips on how to fix the problem would help greatly.

Try disabling any firewalls/etc and trying again. Something might be blocking telnet connections.

Seems a bit of a strange problem since I know I get users all the time on my mud coming from AOL, and I know many of them don't have any special knowledge of firewalls, etc, and wouldn't be at all surprised to learn (not that I've ever had reason to ask any of them) that their parents had enabled teen restrictions on their AOL accounts. I suspect your friend is being restricted by his parents through something more useful than just AOL's parental control settings. But if it is just AOL's settings, perhaps the same parent that set them could adjust them.
