| I've been having some difficulty connecting to users using the chat system. I've only been able to connect to two friends, and none of them by calling me. I've turned off windows firewall, and turned off my mcaffee firewall. They've also turned of theirs. Then I'm using #accept 4050 (default port) Now, I am calling their IP address and getting:
Calling chat server at 200.55.166.34 port 4050
Unable to connect to "200.55.166.34", code = 10061 (Connection refused)
and When they call me their getting timed out. Any help? I'd love to be able to more readily use this wonderful system.
Oh! and one more question while we're here. I'm using this alias to use the chat comm. Alias name: cc * Send: #chatall %1. Enabled is checked. Send to: execute.
Now the problem is, it works fines, but there's a slight occurance which is rather annoying and I was wondering if it could be fixed.
You chat to everybody, "Hello."
What?
The "What?" is what occures when a syntax is typed that doesn't work on my mud, so it seems like the alias is sending an extra unwanted command. Anyway to fix this? so What? does not appear?

| First the connection problem. Disabling firewalls is not the only thing to do, and in fact you shouldn't have to do that, because you are leaving your computer open if you do.
For whoever wants to take the *incoming* calls, assuming they have a router (like a lot of cable users will), you need to "port forward" from the router to the PC running MUSHclient. Search this forum for "port forwarding", and also check out this web site:
http://portforward.com/routers.htm
As for your alias, can you please copy the whole thing? See:
http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/?id=4776
I made an alias along the lines of what you describe, and it works OK:
<aliases>
<alias
match="cc *"
enabled="y"
send_to="10"
sequence="100"
>
<send>#chatall %1</send>
</alias>
</aliases>
