I thought that people might be interested in this:

Microsoft is making several major tools available for free download. Of particular interest is MSVS 2008 Professional Edition.
Note that the offer is for college and graduate students only. I'm not sure what process they use for authenticating that but they claim that they can handle requests from students around the world. |

| They provide a (small) list of colleges that are "supported" (excluding the alternative way). Mine isn't listed even though my college is part of the MSDN Academic Alliance. *shrug* |
