| A MUSHclient user, Tuncay Goncuoglu, has developed an ActiveX component that interfaces with MUSHclient's scripting to produce some fancy mapping in conjunction with BattleTech MUXes.
I'll let him explain it ...
HUD Stands for Head-Up-Display. What it basically does is displaying contacts/objects info on top of terrain map. This is very useful in orientation. Moreover, because speed vectors are provided too, it is much easier to make up interception points and such.
This application is an ActiveX component, that communicates with MUSHClient over Windows Scripting Engine (WSE). Basically, data is taken from MushClient by triggers, sent to HUD by a script file (javascript or vbscript), and finally processed there. Specifically, contact data and damage data. Of course, because damage and contact processing is no longer done by script, and by HUD instead, you need to keep the HUD open for these procedures to be functional. Radio functions are still done script-side however.

dim AutoCombo
AutoCombo = split (arrWildCards (1))
Dim i, attack
for i=lbound (AutoCombo ) to ubound (AutoCombo )
Select Case AutoCombo (i)
case "rp" attack = "punch right"
case "lp" attack = "punch left"
case "s" attack = "sweep"
case "r" attack = "roundhouse"
case else attack = "" ' unknown attack type
End Select
if i = ubound (AutoCombo ) then
world.send "throw " + world.getvariable ("attacker") + " down"
else
world.send attack + " " + world.GetVariable ("attacker")
end if
next
end sub

| Looks really cool! Now if only someone could write an addin for non-hexagon based muds.
It would be fantastic to be able to display a map and keep track of where one was on it.
Cheers. | Top |
