Sorry if I am just not seeing it as I am running around plugging pieces and parts of my system into MUSHclient but is there a way to setup a script/process to only run on initial connect to a world?

All plugins will call an OnPluginConnect function if one is defined. See http://www.mushclient.com/scripts/doc.php?general=plugin_callbacks
