| Started having problems about 3 days ago, client crashes immediately after startup. Just says "Mushclient has stopped working" and prompts to close the program.
When this started I was running Win8.1, I decided to upgrade to Win10 to see if it would help the issue. It doesn't. I've reinstalled the program 4 times, and after each time it will run fine, but as soon as I log off for the night and come back the next day the problem resurfaces. I honestly have no idea why it keeps happening. Any tips on what to do? Using the latest stable version. | Top |

| I suggest re-install windows. I'd ever run mushclient in different windows version, including XP, server2003, 2008, win7, win10, never meet such problem. | Top |

Did you change anything then? Was it OK before?

Nothing changed, no new programs etc. Just one day out of the blue it started crashing on startup. I've had a couple SQL errors in the past that I fixed with a fresh install so I gave that a shot. Fresh install of the client fixes the issue, but only for that session. I've found a slight workaround - at the moment I'm using the client by just opening the world file from Explorer. That seems to work just fine, saves fine, closes fine, everything. Launching the client directly is still crashing immediately on startup at the title screen. It's got me scratching my head for sure.
I'm using the newest version now, 5.01. I was using 4.x before, but reinstalled to the newest version during my troubleshooting. Still crashing at startup.

All my plugins are tried and tested, haven't had an issue with them for years.

Yeah I had 8.1 when this problem cropped up, so I installed 10 to see if it would make a difference (was planning on doing the upgrade anyway). Still crashing the same way as before. I think 8.1 and 10 are still on the same OS kernel, so if it was the OS it was a longshot to begin with. | Top |

| Here's something interesting.
I have MUSHclient here, naturally, and it usually works perfectly for me. If not, I fix it.
But yesterday (I think) I just opened it up with a view to using the Colour Picker (for another project) and it just hung. Now this is the same client that always works, and suddenly it stopped working. Plus, I haven't changed anything in Windows.
Now, after trying to close Windows I got a strange error message about some clipboard manager refusing to close. I suspect that this is related somehow, because after rebooting Windows the issue went away.
So my question is: Is this a native copy of Windows, or are you running a virtual machine (like I am)? |
