Im having a problem when new chars log on theit dark and they cant see. how do i set up the mob to give them basic eq when they start the game?

You would need to invoke a mobprogram in order to do that. It's quite simple, once you get the hang of it. I just posted about it in reply to a similar question
(SMAUG server: Running the server: Need A Program). If you're still stumped after that, feel free to reply with your specific question; I hope this helps :)

Actaually, your other forum post does not answer THIS question. Since you want the mobile to trigger on them entering the game, not simply a room.

First off, set the room itself sector 0(zero), then put indoors flag on it. This will make sure your players can see(at least in this starting room). If they cannot see, the mobile cannot give them equipment.

Next, you need an act program like this:

act p enters the game.

mpoload item level
give item $n

Should work for whatcha need.
