| Some firewalls (ZoneAlarm springs to mind) block programs rather than ports. If you get some message like "MUSHclient is attempting to connect to the Internet - do you want to permit that?" and you answer "no", then you are likely to get such a response.
Try going into the Security Centre for XP and seeing if you have blocking set up. |
