Played Aardwolf for all of 10 minutes before deciding I didn't want to play it. Tried to uninstall the special MUSHClient version provided, had troubles. Now I'm on to a new game... and I'm hoping there's a way to get at least some of the functionality of the special one on my new game.

I'm playing Lusternia. Associated with it is, as with Aardwolf, an area map around you as you move through the game. You can type 'map' to make this appear, or have it always show up. However when traveling long distances it can be rather annoying (not to mention sucking up tons of space on the scroll-back) and even hard to read as the description size of the room varies. How do I set up a second window to show the map alone so I can keep it up, on screen, without it showing on the 'main' window so it won't bother me?

Theoretically you should be able to just remove the directory MUSHclient is in. The special version, if it's old enough, might leave some registry stuff behind, but it's probably not enough to worry about.

As for the map, I wrote an Achaea-specific plugin that puts the map in a miniwindow (which are different from the windows Aardwolf's version uses), but if the Lusternia MAP output is different you'll need to change some of the internals. And the ATCP plugin it depends on may also need tweaking for Lusternia. But then, since both the MAP functionality and ATCP are shared between IRE games, you might not need to change a thing. (Your Mileage May Vary)

Note that they -do- require MUSHclient v4.50 or later, which you can download here on the forums (MUSHclient -> Announcements)

Regrettably, there seems to be a difference since it doesn't work. And, of course, I don't know enough Lua (read: any Lua code) to actually fix it. I had another one, which displayed the map as I moved just fine, even placing it in the upper right (which is where I'd want it), but the 'window', such as it was, was no opaque, so all the text is visible through the back of it... making it effectively unreadable. -_-

Looks like I may have to learn Lua to get the map. Thanks anyway. Maybe I can cobble something together without actually learning anything. ^_^ It'd be my style.

I think Lusternia has a pretty good-sized MUSHclient userbase, and I'd be surprised if nobody had done what you want already. Try searching/posting there and see what comes up?
