Hi Nick,

I'm specifically looking to make https://github.com/nickgammon/plugins/blob/master/Realm_Of_Magic_Mapper.xml work with Realms of Despair, but SMAUG in general is fine.

I assume of course that modifications will be needed, but that it's better to start with that version than to use the more generic one in your post http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/?id=12635 because you've added in the database connections and whatnot.

The steps I took were to create a new world for my test character and install the plugin.

I see the blue load screen with the version number and whatnot, and the mapper help command works.

It seems a silly question but where to from here? I do not believe I've configured the mapper at all yet. Rather than dig through all of it I thought I'd ask, if you can point me in the right direction I don't mind doing the leg work.

You have to get it to detect a room change. I can't easily help right now as I am in transit. In a few days I can give a more detailed response.

Hi Nick, thanks much.

A few notes about the Realms of Despair: while the basic stock SMAUG messages and room movement is available they did add MSDP some time ago so the room name and whatnot is available that way.

I'm not quite sure how to hash a unique id because there are certainly parts that will have the same name/desc/exits, specifically I'm thinking of some of the forests and mazes in general. VNUMs are not available either to the regular player.

I'll see what I can deduce in the mean time, thanks much.

If they're using MSDP, look at some packets to see what flags they're sending for rooms. I'd bet they're sending some kind of unique identifier for [Room] that you can key from for the mapper.
