I noticed when toying around a little that for some god-forsaken reason I can't have multi-line matched triggers omit from output....... why?

Because if you omit a multiline trigger, you're omiting lines that have already been displayed, and moved on the screen. Itd be very erratic behavior.
Many lines could all of the sudden disappear. Same reason you cant log it. Because it would require the deletion of lines.
