| Have the output from what others say to be different colors? What kind of trigger do I have to come up with?
For example, there are different communications, as in general communication. When I used to play this game long long time ago, it used to come out in a different color. I dont know why it happened, but it did.
So for example, the text would read [General Communication] John Doe transmits "Hello."
How would I get all text from that general communication to come out a different color from the regular text? | Top |

| You'd need a trigger to match the output then "Change color and style to..." edit that. Example, |

| Well I know I need a trigger to match the output, but everything I try, it doesn't want to work. I'm confused because the output is going to be different each time.
Like with my example, it would go as such:
[General Communication] Bob transmits "Hello."
[General Communication] Steve transmits "Hi Bob."
I dont know, maybe its just me, maybe my brain is just fried and I'm an idiot, but I'm so lost in which trigger I would use. | Top |

| Basically something like this'll work:
[General Communication] * transmits "*"

| Hrm. So I put [General Communication] *transmits "*" as the trigger? Wow I'm so confused. I deserve a kick in the head. Do I send it to world or to output?
And I apologize for my lack of knowledge involving scripts. It's been a long time since I've used MUSH. | Top |

| Yes that'll be the trigger. I don't think you need to send to anything since you're only changing the output. |

| But don't you have to send to something? For example, world, output, command, and status are some of the options. So I would have to choose one of them no? I've pretty much tried each, and noone want to work. I don't have to restart the MUSHclient or anything for it to work, or is that just a plain and simple stupid idea? | Top |

| I just tested it. Have it send nothing, and have it set on Send to World. |

| Well I give up then. MUSHclient obviously does not like me. I have the [General Communication] *transmits "*" as the trigger. Leaving the sending blank. And sending to world. And it still will not work. MUSHclient is evil and wants me to suffer. | Top |

| No I may just be explaining it incorrectly. Turn on Trace. Game->Trace and see if it matches. Check over some helpfiles as well. |

| How about we get some pasted stuff from your server? Copy it, and paste it inside of [code] [/code] tags (and escape any forslashes you might have!).
Then we'll be able to figure this all out, I guarentee MC doesn't dislike you, and no, you don't have to restart for anything. There's probably a space at the end of the line (or a period?) or something else that you are overlooking (and as such, not telling us about). Triggers need to be told EXACTLY what to match on (including whitespace, which is the biggest cause of problems, and why I asked you to post inside of code tags). |

| Ah I figured it out. Finally...
I was leaving out the comma after "transmits." Thats why it wasn't working. And thus, I have now figured out the wide world of triggers. Get it... Wide world of triggers! Ha! Haha! Ha!
Ha... I need sleep. | Top |
