I have been using SMAUG and editing areas with the AreaEditor 1.34. I really want to dumb down my setup QUITE a bit and wanted to see how hard it really would be. I want new players to only go to a single area, that I create. I want them to not choose race or class or anything, just Male or Female and a name. I have no need to combat setups even, just the ability to interact in the limited area I provide. Is this as hard as it seems to dumb everything down? Thanks for any help.

It wouldn't be too hard, but it begs the question why use Smaug?

Note that you don't actually have to remove things from the code in order to remove interaction with them.

But Zeno is right; you might want to consider using a different codebase. In fact, something like SocketMUD or Nick's Tinymudserver might work much better for you.

This sounds quite a bit like PennMUSH (or similar variants) which don't have combat, and basically come out of the box "empty".

I think a while ago I did something that let you export out of the Area Editor into PennMUSH building commands, so your preliminary work wouldn't be wasted.
