Greetings to all! I have come here in hope that somebody might have experienced the same problems as I am, and know what to do about them. I recently i nstalled redhat linux 7.1 on my computer for some mud development me and a few friends plan on doing. We decided to go with Rom, and of course the first step is to get OLC in so the builders can start doing their job. I downloaded OLC from Darkhoth's mud store and followed the instructions exactly. It worked fine the first time, we all got on and accessed redit, etc. However not thinking (never making this mistake again) I tried to install colour without backing up the source directory and it didn't go well. So I had to reinstall everything. Now I follow the same procedures I did the first time, mut whenever I boot up my mud after putting OLC in, I get a segmentation fault and the core dumps. I've tried this about 10 times this morning alone and I just can't get it to work! Does anybody know what's wrong?

Ignore the last post. I got rom24b6 up and running but I've run into another problem. It appears that the version I found (which came with olc) has OLC version 1.0 *WINCE*. It doesn't have mobprogs or anything, I've tried to install the snippets and it doesn't go over well at all. I get a million errors! does anybody know how I cna upgrade to a better version of olc?

If I may suggest, SMAUG has OLC and mobprogs, also colour. It is based on Diku, so it feels very similar. It might be easier to switch to that rather than trying to install lots of patches to ROM (which makes it very similar to SMAUG anyway).

Thanks for the suggestion, for some reason I've never been a big smaug fan. There's just something about the whole way it's set up and the whole way it plays (not to mention the fact that there are way too many immortal commands) that has always turned me away. I've really had my heart set on Rom, I've always been a rom player and enjoyed the codebase. It is looking as if all hope is lost however, I might have to start from scratch again which I really don't want to do. Even though my mud hasn't been up long it's already taking shape to look the way I want it. So I guess this means you don't know of any OLC 1.0 upgrades? Heh, I've scoured the internet but that version is just too old (who'd include that in a mud server anyways *boggle*). Anyways thanks again, any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit commands.dat file and remove the commands you don't want.
