| I would like to start out by checking if there is any possible way to get my old username back. My email address has changed since then and I no longer have access to that email account. If there is any way that you can verify my identity, please let me know. I would be more than happy to provide you with that information.
Now on to the main part of my post, are there any specific reasons to use one client over the other? I paid for the full version of zMUD 7.21 and it was not until recently that I was looking for another client. I had no real complaints about zMUD other than I found the performance slow at times. It had all of the features that one would come to expect from a MUD client. This was great for users that want to have paths, triggers, macros, buttons, debugger, editor, and the most prominent feature would be the mapper. I just use a few of the mentioned features.
I really enjoy the speed of MUSHclient and the way it handles multiple worlds. What suggestions would you have for a zMUD user? I want to understand more about the particular features that I like to use which are speedwalks, aliases, simple triggers, and how to use the map. I am interested in any other powerful features that would enhance my experience with MUSHclient.
Thanks for reading and help is greatly appreciated.

| I am not a zMUD expert, so hopefully more informed comments will come from them.
There have been some posts about converting zMUD triggers and aliases into MUSHclient ones, at least in part (each client does things differently so this can't be totally automated).
I believe the zMUD mapper is much more powerful than the "mapping" offered in MUSHclient, which is really just a way of remembering how to get from A to B and turn it into a speedwalk. I had a copy of zMUD a while ago, and personally couldn't get the mapper to work, but that was probably just my inexperience.
In recent months there have been enhancements to MUSHclient in the form of "miniwindows" which lets you do things like status bars, maps, inventory windows etc. I would look at the plugins section of the forum for inspiration there (and the Miniwindows section too).
MUSHclient and zMUD are different beasts - as it turns out Zugg and I started development on our clients at about the same time (in 1995) and thus neither of us was influenced by the other. |
