Does SMAUG have the ability to reset passwords? Or assign a temporary password? If e-mail information is recorded then a password could be generated then sent to the player e-mail. Then sha256 could be used with an existing player base although everyones passwords would have to be reset.

Alas, while Smaug does have a command (or two) that an admin can use to change the password for someone else, email addresses are not saved anywhere, Smaug does not have any email interface already, and it doesn't auto-generate passwords. :(
