| I've come up with a concept for a classes and level less skill/stat/item system and I'm looking for thoughts on it.
The system would first have a player set a number of stats from 1-5 from a stat pool, assuming 3 to be average. The stats scale in units as small as 0.01. Players can use certain rare but permanent and publicly available areas to adjust these latter on.
Skills are broken down into five active slots, five passive slots, and five readied item slots. More commonly available permanent areas allow players to swap out these slots for items/skills in their inventory. Each slot has three upgrade slots on it, allowing the player to customize their items some, which can also be swapped out in the special area.
Gear, including weapons, armour, special passives, possibly even race, and physical appears equips work like readied items and skills but have separate slots.
Skills, items have stats and abilities rated 1-5 in units of 0.01 drawn from a point pool that has the same base limit for all items. Some abilities are actually defects adding points to the items available point pool. Each race has a point pool for stats and abilities also.
When an item is used, its effects, power, etc. are scaled by the players stats, players race stats, and the items stats. Players can pick up new items, skills, etc. as random drops or quest rewards. These drops would be slightly randomized in stats/ability scale, so two drops would be very similar, but one might be slight better in one area than another. | Top |
