| I was wondering if its possible to provide the source code so those that would like to install natively under Linux can. Since this is a C++ application it should be able to be compiled for Linux without need of WINE.
Amending this suggestion. I see someone posted something for Mac OS X too. I wanted to state my reason behind requesting this. I'm on an older laptop, not a lot of memory and very small hard drive. Running under WINE is impossible for me. | | Top |

The source code IS available on github. But the extent to which you are wrong is staggeringly large. Nothing can be done to make it run natively on Linux short of an almost complete rewrite. Win32 MFC is not something that can be merely wished away. |

| Sorry, but the amount of work required to move the source away from depending on MFC would be huge (perhaps by design, eh Microsoft?).

| | Of course its by design. They are scared of letting anything go anyway but their way. I understand. Just that I thought this would be a nice client to use as it seems someone has worked out a nice infobar for the MUD I play and color schemes and everything. I doubt that that will work on my current client. Oh well. | | Top |

| I don't think there's any kind of shell API design that would allow easy portability between different shells without major collaboration between completely disinterested parties. Transforming from MFC/Win32 to GTK+ (Gnome) is no more complicated than going from GTK+ to Qt (KDE).

Have you tried? Wine has incredibly low overhead. |

| | Yeah. Wine Is Not an Emulator, you know. It runs code natively. |
