Problem... When I try to create a character, the program itself Crashes... HELP! ... have no idea what patch I use... maybe I need to patch?

Forgot to add, right now I am on Windows 95
64 MB ram, 233 mhz
Running PennMUSH version 1.7.7 patchlevel 15 [06/01/2003]

It shouldn't crash when creating a character - that is about the most fundamental thing you can do.

Check you have the directories you need, otherwise try downloading an earlier version from the PennMUSH site.

Oooookay, I tried with another Database... It worked. The problem was with the Database I guess... but now that one database doesn't have the @pass command... SHIT! That gets nasty...

Ok, you guys care to send me a Core database that would work, zipped, at pascatps@hotmail.com ? Would be really great if you could... or if you can send me an address for one... Also a place where I can find ideas for MUSH programs I can install/modify... I am working on a server that will be the Core of a game system I created... though I cannot use the servers with games preinstalled, for I need to program every bits of the game. It can be done in PennMUSH, right?(I'm also working on making tools that will allow them to create Magical Items following rules and their skills ;)

Anyway, if any of you is interested in trying out when I get the game running, just ring a bell :)

I haven't had much luck in the past getting a MUSH database from anyone. For one thing, unlike SMAUG/ROM areas, the MUSH database has the player information in it (eg. names, passwords, emails) so they probably are not going to give you a copy in a hurry.

Depending on what you are trying to do, a different server might be better. Try Dawn Of Time, for instance.

I wish a Machine that would allow a battle engine to be ran easily(I am using % dices)

I wish a server able to run on both, Win9X and WinXP(Set to Win95/98 Compatibility mode for the program)

I wish maybe an Inner Programming language so I can add/modify stuff in the engine

Over all, I don't want to have to compile...I don't have my Visual Studio 6 CDs with me!

(Another question, is your ROM or SMAUG server good enough for that and can some rooms be sold in Limited Number in some areas?(Already build rooms that they can pay to own) and the possibility for players to Craft items with the right skill. IE. One that has Smithing, can he craft a Sword? and so on.)
I haven't tried ROM or SMAUG yet, so I wish to know if its possible to modify them to fit my Krissarian Game Setting(Created from my French novel, Les Seigneurs de Krissa Translated: The Krissarian Lords)
I would also work on a French version of the server once I am done with it.... Also maybe even Mix the two together like in Montreal? Some places English only, Some place French only, others Bilingual... anyway... Now the question is... Having also Multi-lingual features enabled(Possibility to use the french characters)
Such haven't been attempted yet, like in the real world. Sometimes neighbors in area won't understand themselves really... I am trying to recreate this reality, exept that it will be more real then real.... not caused by a randomized encryption that fuzzes the languages about...
If you are able to help me along with this, I would be very recognising and glad....

All of this is in SMAUG, and better-still, Dawn Of Time, which is a richer server. Both are described here, all are available for nothing.

The only problem is, normal players do not build rooms. Building by players is more of a social MUSH/MOO feature, and is what PennMUSH is good at. However if you use PennMUSH you have to do all the battle stuff yourself.

As for French, unfortunately many servers, including SMAUG and DoT are in English, with a lot of hard-coded English phrases in them.

I believe PennMUSH is better suited to different languages, and has some options to support that. I'm not sure how they work.

So I best stick with pennMUSH for what I wish to do? Ok, as for my world, I can pre-create the rooms to be bought by players, but the multilingual feature would then be missing. pennMUSH, there is a project on the Main Webpage where it is for the Translation of the whole PennMUSH system into different languages. As for the bilingual effect, I could use FLAGS on users, one flag for english, and one for french, which would set which of the two descriptions objects will have. This will be a hell of a hard time with all the coding... and for that I need a stable startup DB that won't crash every 10 minutes...

Now, I got two DBs... either I cannot create characters at all, or I can create characters but if one tries to connect on those created characters, it crashes the server, literally. I know it is in the database, or in the configurations. ((Maybe I chose wrong configs for Windows 95...)) but it can be many much things... As in, my system only has 64 RAM...
If you guys can help out... I'd really appreciate. Now, I've tried to get another copy of pennMUSH and run it without modifying any of the files... I'm hoping it might work.

If I will get to work on SMAUG, then I wish to know where I can get a manual to rebuild the battle system and powers/skills system... Here's what I need to do
Change the Dice systems to follow complex mathematical operations to calculate: Damage, Difficulties(According to Power Difficulty and Object Difficulty), EXP/skill system... everythign would need to be rebuild...

... Things are going tough...

Sorry about that guys... I found out where the problem is from... I will post it here so you know what it is and remember people NOT to do that...

I had setup the Characters to exist in a Room that doesn't exist. ((Setup for default room at #1000 and it didn't exist) and so, it was making a Paradox in the program(Seeking room 1000, doesn't exist... beep!) so it made it Crash... plain and fair.
