I'm trying to work with ROM 2.4 files, however I cannot load any area file with a #SOCIAL section. That section is allowed in stock ROM 2.4. This is rather annoying...
Any way around this, or am I going to have to wait for some future possible update?

using version 1.30 of AreaEditor (UnReg)

I don't think I ever came across a ROM area file with the #SOCIAL section in it, so it isn't supported at present.

If you are using SMAUG, it supports the socials.dat file, which are a separate file.

Sure. When I first wrote the area editor it was for SMAUG areas which had a separate socials file, not inside an area. It is designed to cope with that.

When I converted it for ROM areas I didn't do the socials area, I suppose out of laziness. Technically I thought that the socials area wasn't really and area but a "socials file". Also, the format is simple enough to edit with a text editor, unlike normal area files.
