| Can anyone give me a basic guide on which cygwin packages would be good to download for MUD coding? (I installed with the core packages, and got make and vim and some other random things.) I'm very unfamiliar with cygwin, so any help would be appreciated.

| Nick's guide is indeed excellent.
The basic rule is that as a novice coder, the only packages you really need are the bare minimum to get things running. There's enough stuff to do with just the basics, without needing to worry about optional/advanced packages. |
