Has anyone else noticed this? I have been finding recently, that under Windows XP in particular, that if I open the world configuration, and then close it (hit Esc) there seems to be a long pause. Recent testing seemed to show that MUSHclient's CPU utilization went up to about 50%.

It doesn't seem to happen on my development machine (Windows NT), and for a while I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.

Since closing the dialog with Esc shouldn't involve any great processing, I am at a loss to explain what the few seconds of 50% CPU utilization is. In fact, I think under XP any one process is limited to 50% CPU (or maybe it is because I have dual CPUs), so it is doing something, I don't know what, really hard.

If this is happening to other people, then at least it isn't something specific to that particular PC.

I've noticed that myself over the last few versions. I thought it was just wine acting up though. I usually either wait it out, or sometimes I've had to kill wineserver and start up MUSHclient again.

It is much easier to fight for one's ideals than to live up to them.

No problems here. I have a world open with 100k lines, I opened the World Config and then hit Esc. It instantly closed, no delays or memory jumps.

I don't think it is the buffer size that does it. Now I have got my debugger set up it has stopped doing it <grin>.

I can't put my finger on it, turning scripting off doesn't help, when it decides to do it, it will do it consistently, at other times, nothing happens.

I also tried it on my laptop, no problem there either.

What SP are you using?
