i'm just curious why people think smaug is so
much better than ROM... the colors you start out
with are gross and hurt your eyes for a while,
and almost all the versions of it i have found
didn't come with an editor, where as rom does
and the color is easily insertable...

so basically i'm ranting here about how i like
ROM better and other people should get into it...
i got a whole bunch of codebases, got them all
running now and so far the best looking overall
is the ROM.

That's all.

its easier in my eyes cause the patches i downloaded
from kyndig's site actually worked for rom... thats why.
smaug is way too colored for my taste...

a PATCHing program for windows?
i'm using Visual C++ 5.0 with Visual Studio 97

Probably the easiest way is to install Cygwin, which has patch and diff, amongst other utilities.

from how i've seen it, if the coder can figure out rom (which many have) they use rom and love it. If not they use smaug then probably move back into rom. The past 3 or 4 muds i've played were based off of merc to rom and theres some amazing stuff you can do with either. If your still deciding what codebase to use, quickmud is a good start for rom, or now rot 1.4 (since quickmud is probably old now).
