| I just saw this on Google Tech Talk. It's a great movie about text-based games. Really enlightening in the 3D accelerated world to see that text games are still alive.

| Very interesting video, thanks for sharing!
Some of the interesting moments, though the whole movie is interesting:
Everything is text based on the internets, you read a page, then click to a link (or google another world), then read again, open new pages, open forums, read, reply, close, open your mail, read it, reply it, close it, etc. Kinda text adventure isnt't?
Once you hooked to text, you will never look back. Like those people who still prefer reading (and writing!) books instead of watching movies.

| Yes, very interesting viewing. It was interesting to read about the Original Adventure, I remember playing that years and years ago. Like they said, not much work was done while people worked out how to get through the cave (those were the days when you didn't have personal computers, or at least not ones that ran Adventure).
The original adventure only had one bit of combat - the room with the dwarfs - and once you killed them you never had to do it again. So it was really a puzzle rather than combat.
Then fun part was working out what did what, like I think you fed the bear to get it to move out of the way to a room with a treasure in it.
It was also interesting to read the comments of some blind players. The old "the room is too dark to see" of course would be meaningless to people who are blind, because the rooms are always too dark to see. So forcing them to go grab a light before they could play was putting a bit of an artificial limitation on them. |

| I'm halfway through watching this right now. :) Great link! I love the bit with Richard Bartle right around the middle. "And if there were some technology which could enable you to talk straight to the imagination... Well there is. It's called text." :D

Haha, the crowd was remarkably silent up until then. |
