Have the forum erase the entire subject and all messages contained within when deleting the first message

I don't really want to do that, because it means you could delete other people's postings.

Let us say that "A" posted a message about "how do you do X"?

Let us say that I did a detailed reply, which took me half an hour, because I thought it would be helpful to have that information documented, and so I didn't have to do it again in 3 weeks when someone had a similar question.

Now let us say that "A" deletes his original question (as he has had his reply). Your suggestion means my work is thrown away as well. I don't really want to lose my reply.

However if the reply is very short, and it makes no sense with the original question gone, then I may delete the reply once the question is gone, but that is up to me, not the poster of the question.
