| For starters I'm going to point out that most MUDs frown on botting at the very least. I'll also be kind enough to point out that if you get caught by someone like me while running a bot, no matter how sophisticated, you will at the very least be corpsed and reset to lvl 1. Odds are if *I* catch you botting you'll be banned from the MUD for a time. Mind you, I'm not saying trigger assistance to handle certain occurances is a bad thing but setting yourself up to level without even having to be at the keyboard is the worst insult you can make toward a mud and its players. |

| hey before you rag on me get your nose out of crappy level mud. this is for pk mud and its all about xp. There is a small strip called zerk side and its got mobs in it everywhere and its 30 long from south to north. the mobs pop fast and you know what i do when i'm at the keyboard? huh go ahead guess.
s c gas
s c gas
s c gas
s c gas
s c gas
s c gas
Over and over and over until i've reached the bottom.
then i go
n c gas
n c gas
over and over. And i for one am getting very bored of this and in this mud everytime you up your hp 1 the required xp required doubles. You can get up to 1 mil hp but its very hard to do so someone on the mud told me i should make a bot and i know this person very well and trust them so just tell em how the hell to make one ok. and go spread your level mud ethics somewhere else. | Top |

| For starters, every mud is all about xp, doesn't matter what the focus is. If you trust this person as much as you claim to, ask him to help you build your bot. As far as getting help from this forum for a bot, you pretty well just killed your chances at that by blowing up over a fairly polite list of the reasons *not* to do so. |

| Once again we see a good example or poor mannerism. If it is not obvious, Meerclar was
trying to prevent someone from making a mistake that could ultimately result in then
getting banned from a MUD that they are so worried about getting experience for.
All the experience in the world will not do you any good if you can’t connect to the
MUD. Further more this is someone that is requesting help yet doesn’t feel like they
need to show any appreciation for the help they are given. In fact this person’s feels
that it is necessary to start in with insults and name calling. I am also guessing that this
person is an example of our fine American youth.
“well screw you I'm going to zmud maybe they can help me more than you ya jerk”
This makes a lot of sense. For one thing, I don’t think that Meerclar is a representative
of MUSHclient and does not express the opinion of Nick Gammon, so why take it out on
MUSHclient. For another, I don’t understand the intent of that statement. Do you
Possibly think that you are going to hurt anyone’s feelings by switching to another client?
Maybe you would actually be doing all the users of MUSHclient a favor. I am not sure
Nick would want someone of your aptitude to promote something that he has put so
much work into. But, you are right, maybe people at the Zmud Forums will give you
the answer that you want, but I would be surprised if you carry on there like you have here.
Here is the picture:
When you are posting somewhere for help you should appreciate any help or suggestions that
are given, even if it is not exactly what you were asking for. Someone has taken the time to
actually read your post and reply in a helpful manner and you should respect that. Meerclar, for
example, was not under any obligation to help you at all. Yet, you act as if you feel that you are
special and deserve an answer and the answer that you want. When you got an answer you insist
on insulting the person that was trying to help you. You seem to miss the fact that he was passing
valuable advise that you help prevent you from getting banned. I sure hope that you don’t treat
your friend like this. If you do, maybe the only thing that he is sick of is you.
I know that I might have crossed the boundaries with this post but I just can’t see what is so hard
about showing some manners, appreciation and a little bit of respect.
Just take some time and think about it:
Maybe next time, instead of replying the in the manner you did, you could reply with “Thank you, but that
Is not what I was asking about” then clarify the question so that it could be better understood.
I apologize for taking your time and appreciate anyone who has taken that time to read this.
Thank You, |

| Well, I didnt read much of this, but dont go putting down level-based muds.. I'm sorry that I have enough of a life to not want to spam N;C Gas..
Also I'll attempt to help..
Lets see, there's prolly a set amount of ticks till repop and a set length of ticks..
Length of tick * number of ticks = A
Make a timer so that after time 2A, you enter N and C Gas 30 times.. Then have set off another trigger that waits time A and goes south and casts gas.. OR, after you go north all of them, have like a long Gtell or Emote that sets another timer to go south and do it all after time 2A
I say 2A because you have to go once, then time A will pass and you'll go south on the 2nd timer..
Umm, I'm sorry for not knowing how timers work and stuff but you can figure it out from there.. And if you cant then oh well I tried..

| I just wanted to endorse everything Loki said. I have been on various mailing lists which degenerated into insults and counter-insults, so that in the end all the intelligent people went elsewhere and the only ones left on the list were the ones exchanging insults.
Not much use to anyone. :)
I suggest that to get an answer you post a question with more detail, eg. what it is that the MUD sends, and how you need to reply. eg. do you type "s c gas" every second or in response to something?
Remember this forum is a free service with postings by volunteers. It doesn't help to insult them. |
