Glad it has been helpful. :)

I was going to point out that you don't have to convert your entire MUD into STL, you could conceivably use STL in a single function where you needed to (for example) make a list of players in a room and sort them.

What *is* needed is to have the program written in C++. I have been playing with converting SMAUG to C++ today, and a tedious exercise it is too, however I am almost ready to release a C++ version, to which you could then add STL wherever you wanted.
