Setup in Arduino IDE gor standalone programming

Hi, followed you stand-alone breadboard Srduino FTDI., programmer, thanks, however you do not say which board, com port and programmer should be set in order to run the Arduino IDE.
1) I think we need this info for the Arduino IDE., or do we not need it?
OR
2) Are we better using some other IDE?
