Which scripting language should I go with?

I have no experience with scripting languages. It looks like MUSHClient supports several of them and if I'm going to be even moderately efficient at using it I'm going to have to know a scripting language.

Which scripting language would you guys suggest I start out with?

Lua is fastest and most easily portable. It's also the simplest to learn and has best support in MUSHclient.

Agreed. Most of the recent examples, and all of the tutorials on the "Getting Started" pages use Lua.
